Timber Floor Staining in Brisbane
There are two methods that can be used to stain floors.
Tint Staining
Tint staining is where the colour is added to the coating. This has limitations to the amount of colour that can be achieved, but has the advantage of being able to be completed quicker and for less cost.
Stains we use can be oil base, solvent base or water based. We use and recommend stains made by Feast Watson, Wattyl, Cabot’s and many others.
Direct Staining
The colour is put directly into the floor and requires a great deal of skill to apply. This process will add at least an extra day to the overall duration of the job. For staining floors a very dark colour like black or brown japan they would have to be direct stained. One of the most common staining jobs is making new pine look like old pine. For this you would normally direct stain.
